Ground Fire
Ground Fire is a family of fully digital, multifunctional S-band ground radars developed by Thales of France. Designed for simultaneous air defense and air surveillance missions, these 4D radars utilize Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology with a Gallium nitride (GaN) array, allowing for a compact design suitable for medium-sized truck systems and air transportability. With an instrumented range of 400 km, they provide continuous 360° azimuth and up to 90° elevation coverage, capable of detecting and tracking a comprehensive range of targets, including early warning against ballistic missiles, even in intense clutter and jamming environments. The Ground Fire 300 (GF 300) variant is slated to replace the Arabel radar around 2025 as part of the Eurosam SAMP/T GBAD New Generation (NG) program.
