Description

The YM-1B (YM-IB) Iranian Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), scatterable, blast-resistant, anti-personnel (AP), blast landmine incorporating an over-pressure mechanism preventing initiation in the event of sudden shock or impact. It is externally like the YM-1 but amalgamates features from the Italian TS-50 and VS-50 landmines.

System
Alternate Designation YM-1B; YM-IB
Type Anti-Personnel Mine
Manufacturer INA
Design The YM-1B has a low metal content (less than 5g in total), which can make it difficult to locate using a metal detector, particularly in areas where background metallic clutter may effectively mask the signature.
Fuze The pneumatic fuzing system of the YM-1B is highly resistant to shock and impact when in a good condition. This substantially reduces the effectiveness of most rapid clearance techniques.
Charge The explosive charge in the YM-1B is small (36g) but, being based on PETN, is still likely to cause substantial injury.
