V-MD3
The V-MD3 is an experimental V-band radar transceiver developed by RFbeam Microwave GmbH, operating in the 61 to 64 GHz frequency range. It employs Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) technology, leveraging automotive industry experience, to measure the speed, direction, distance, and angle (azimuth and elevation) of both moving and static objects within an instrumented range of less than 100 meters and a range resolution of 5 cm. The sensor integrates a radar front-end with three transmit and four receive patch antennas, coupled with an FPGA for digital signal processing, and features an Ethernet port for data readout and configuration, along with two configurable digital outputs for area monitoring or collision avoidance. Encased in an IP65-rated housing with M12 connectors, it offers simplified object detection and measurement functionalities, providing processed data from various stages for flexible integration without requiring custom signal processing algorithms.
