AN/SPG-60
The AN/SPG-60, also known as a Separate Target Illumination Radar (STIR), is an X-band monopulse Doppler radar designed for target acquisition, tracking, and illumination. Operating at pulse repetition frequencies of 1800 or 3600 Hz with pulsewidths of 0.22 or 0.45 microseconds, it provides target illumination for RIM-24 Tartar and RIM-66 Standard missiles. This naval radar, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, is an integral component of the MK-86 gun fire control system. Its stabilized antenna pedestal features a 4-meter parabolic reflector, which can be equipped with a boresighted TV camera for passive visual tracking in severe jamming environments. Development commenced in the late 1960s, with the first prototypes delivered to the U.S. Navy in March 1970.
