Scanter 6000
The Scanter 6000 is a fully coherent, solid-state 2D naval surveillance radar operating in the X-band (9,250 to 9,500 MHz). Developed by Terma, it features software-defined functionality and employs advanced techniques like frequency and time diversity to enhance surface and low-airspace situational awareness. This multi-role sensor system is designed for tactical surface surveillance, search and rescue, and helicopter control, offering simultaneous detection of small and large targets across its instrumented range of 96 nautical miles (178 km) with a range resolution of 12 meters. With a peak power of 200 kW and an average power of 40 W, it fills the gap between standard marine navigation radars and more expensive military surveillance systems. The Scanter 6000 has been selected by the Royal Malaysian Navy as a combined navigation and helicopter control radar for the mid-life modernization of its two Lekiu-class frigates.
