Description
The BLU-42 American Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), scatterable, anti-personnel (AP), fragmentation, landmine designated the Aerially Dispensed, Wide-area, Anti-personnel Mine (WAAPM).

The landmines are painted olive drab and have no markings.
The BLU-42/B, BLU-42A/B and BLU-54/B landmines are identical in external appearance, they differ only in self-destruct (SD) times.
Operation
The landmine has six spring-loaded tripwires that are expelled from the landmine after it makes contact with the ground.
The landmine also has an anti-disturbance feature and a self-destruct (SD) feature. This landmine is a scatterable delivered by the SUU-30 cluster bomb.
Note
The Russian version of this landmine is the POM-1S anti-personnel (AP) fragmentation landmine.
