Description

The CH-804C Chinese Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) features a slim, conical-shaped fuselage with its wings positioned towards the back in a mid-wing configuration. The aircraft has twin booms that extend beneath the fixed wings on either side, attaching to the underside of each main wing surface. Each tailboom is equipped with two rotors, located at both the front and rear ends. The twin booms end in vertical fins at the back, which are connected at the top by a horizontal surface. The main engine, which drives a two-blade propeller, is installed at the rear of the fuselage.

Mission Payloads The CH-804C is equipped with a belly-mounted, optically stabilized electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) ball turret that weighs 2.5 kg. This turret features a daylight channel capable of providing both wide and narrow fields of view (FoV). The infrared (IR) channel has a resolution of 640 × 512 pixels and a focal plane array with a FoV of 13.9° × 11.2°. It is reported to have a detection range of 1.5 kilometers and a recognition range of 1 kilometer.
Guidance and Control The CH-804C is equipped with an L-band datalink, supporting a data transfer rate of up to 25.6 kbps for telemetry and 4 Mbps for imagery. The platform also employs a dual GPS receiver suite that offers redundancy in the event of signal loss in a GPS module as well as enabling GPS differential computation for improved positional and hover accuracy.
Launch The CH-804C has the capability for autonomous vertical take-off, utilizing the four rotors mounted on its tail booms. Its main engine, located at the back of the fuselage, propels the aircraft forward, allowing it to transition from vertical to conventional flight. During conventional flight, the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) units are turned off. Compared to previous versions, the CH-804C offers a 33% increase in flight endurance, achieving a flight time of up to 4 hours.
Recovery The CH-804C lands by reactivating its VTOL units for landing or hover operations, with landing performed autonomously.
