Description

The N035 Irbis (Н035 «Ирбис», "Snow Leopard") is a Russian X-band (IEEE designation) or I/J-band (NATO designation) multifunction airborne radar manufactured by NIIP. Designed for the Sukhoi Su-27 fighter-bomber and used in Sukhoi Su-35 prototypes, it became operational in 2012. Its 90 cm passive phased-array antenna, with 1,850 radiating elements, can detect and track up to 300 air targets simultaneously and engage up to 80, providing target illumination for semi-active radar-guided missiles. In air-to-ground mode, the radar offers a mapping function, limited synthetic aperture radar (SAR) capability with approximately 3 m resolution, and can attack up to four ground targets with precision-guided weapons while scanning for air threats. The radar has a peak power of 20 kW, an average power of 5 kW, and an instrumented range of 300 km.
