Note The vehicle layout supports the integration of roof-mounted weapon systems and turrets without altering the core hull dimensions. At WDS 2026, ERAF also displayed turret systems including a 25 mm turret of South African origin (designed by Comenius, now produced by ERAF in Saudi Arabia under a technology transfer arrangement) mounted on the 19TC1.
Protection
Armor The Tares III-16TC1 provides STANAG 4569 Level III ballistic protection. This is one level below the 19TC1's Level IV, but sufficient for a wide range of threat environments. The vehicle's MRAP designation reflects its design emphasis on countering mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Interior crew protection measures include blast-attenuating seats designed to mitigate underbody blast effects. Unlike the monocoque V-hull structure of the 19TC1 and 10TC1, the 16TC1 uses a chassis-based architecture, which contributes to its lower kerb mass while maintaining MRAP-level protection standards.
