Inspector 90 French Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV)
Inspector 90

The Inspector 90 French Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) is a compact, multipurpose unmanned surface vehicle manufactured by Exail (formerly ECA Group) designed specifically for mine countermeasures operations in shallow and littoral waters. At 9.2 meters in length with a maximum payload capacity of 900–1,000 kilograms, the Inspector 90 represents the lighter end of Exail's modular UMIS (Unified Modular Information System) family, operating under fully autonomous, remotely controlled, or optionally manned modes. The Inspector 90's recent selection by the Indonesian Navy—despite competition from established German maritime technology providers—reflects a broader shift toward modular, software-centric MCM architectures over proprietary hardware platforms. Exail's Umisoft integration, standardized across the Inspector family and compatible with third-party sensors, provides navies with strategic flexibility in technology refresh cycles and cross-platform interoperability. As NATO missions increasingly emphasize distributed operations and reduced manning, the Inspector 90 and its variants are positioned to become the de facto MCM standard across allied navies operating in constrained littoral environments.
