Description

The Indra SMR (Surface Movement Radar) is an X-band (9.0-9.5 GHz) air traffic control (ATC) radar designed for detecting and locating individual and multiple targets, both stationary and moving, within airport maneuver and ramp areas. It operates effectively at an instrumented range of 6 km, even in low visibility conditions caused by fog or rain. This radar utilizes frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) technology with a linear ramp, enabling a very low average transmitter output power of 5 W. The system features a pedestal subsystem that supports separate transmit and receive linear array antennas, which produce a circularly polarized inverted cosecant squared pattern with a beamwidth of less than 0.4 degrees and rotate at 60 revolutions per minute.
