LSTAR®
The LSTAR (Lightweight Search and Track Acquisition Radar) is an L-band (IEEE designation) or D-band (NATO designation) tactical air defense radar developed by Syracuse Research Corporation. It provides 360-degree, 3D electronic scanning for detecting and tracking a wide range of airborne targets, including small, low-flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, ultralights, paragliders, and hang gliders. Designed for applications such as border air surveillance, UAV sense and avoid, local airspace management, critical infrastructure protection, and wind farm monitoring, LSTAR systems are network-ready with standard ASTERIX, DDS, or custom interfaces, support remote and unattended operation, and are transportable for rapid deployment. The LSTAR (V)2 variant is intended for minimal infrastructure environments, while the LSTAR (V)3 offers enhanced performance where more infrastructure is available.
