RAT-31 DL/M
The RAT 31 DL/M (Radar Avvistamento Terrestre, D-Band, Long range, Mobile) is a mobile, long-range air surveillance radar operating in the D-band (NATO designation) or L-band (IEEE designation). It is based on the technology of the RAT 31 DL/FADR (Fixed Air Defence Radar) systems, which are in service with numerous NATO, European, and extra-European countries. The system features a solid-state phased array monopulse radar with an 11 m x 7 m antenna, comprising 42 rows of 52 radiators and 42 transmitter/receiver modules, each with 2 kilowatts of power. Its beam-forming technique allows simultaneous, independent management of four transmission beams. The RAT 31 DL/M provides 360-degree azimuth coverage, with the antenna rotating at 6 rpm, detecting targets up to an instrumented range of 270 nautical miles and an altitude of 92,000 feet. It also integrates a SIR-M secondary monopulse radar with a maximum range of 250 nautical miles. The system, consisting of a foldable antenna and a shelter, both in two ISO 20 ft packages, is designed for high mobility and rapid autonomous deployment on unprepared sites, transportable by A400M aircraft, truck, or rail.
