BridgeMaster E
The BridgeMaster E is a naval navigation and surveillance radar system manufactured by Sperry Marine, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman, originating from the United States. Introduced in 1999, it operates in the S-band at 3,050 MHz, with a peak power of 30 kW and an instrumented range of 96 nautical miles (approximately 192 km). It offers pulse repetition frequencies of 1,760 or 785 Hz and pulsewidths of 0.05, 0.25, or 0.75 microseconds. The system features a semiconductor-based pulse generator driving a magnetron and is available with S-band antennas of 9 ft (2.7 m) or 12 ft (3.5 m), providing a nominal vertical beamwidth of 30 degrees and a horizontal beamwidth of 2 or 2.8 degrees, with antenna rotation speeds of 28 or 45 revolutions per minute. The BridgeMaster E, which evolved from over 50 years of Decca's commercial marine radar technology, was widely adopted by major navies and coast guards globally, including the UK Royal Navy (as the Type 1008 navigation radar), the US Navy, and the French Navy, before being succeeded by the VisionMaster FT series in 2006.
