Description

The TALAY Turkish Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is designed for operations over the sea, with the ability to take off from the sea or coastal platforms. Its unique body design and technical features allow TALAY to fly at altitudes as low as 30 cm above the water. With fast and agile maneuverability, it can engage mission targets silently and swiftly. The compact, foldable wing structure and composite fuselage enable rapid deployment from various coastal platforms, making TALAY suitable for a range of missions, from surveillance to precision kamikaze strikes on enemy vessels. Unlike conventional kamikaze UAVs that typically rely on standard low-level approaches, TALAY’s advanced sea-skimming capability allows it to operate below the radar detection range of most naval vessels. This provides a significant advantage when neutralizing small to medium-sized ships or disrupting port infrastructure. In comparison to earlier surface drones or traditional unmanned strike systems, TALAY combines speed, stealth, and maneuverability even in sea state three conditions where typical UAVs or naval munitions may struggle. This capability has the potential to change naval force dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea, posing new challenges for large surface combatants and port facilities that must now consider low-profile, fast-moving aerial threats.
